Florida Recap

Continuing with the Florida update.  We had several rain outs and only got to race East Bay once.  In summary the best part about Florida is that you get to test and tune for 3 weeks that would take 3 months back home.  As a result, we did have some challenges to overcome.  First we learned that I was running time trials with the car to tight.  Being out of the car for a while and being somewhat conservative, I was asking Kevin to make the car to tight to time trial well.  This would kill the motor and the speed in the car, which equaled slow time trial laps. This took us a long time to figure out but with 1/2 the races at Williams Grove being TT shows this will prove to be a big step.  We also tested some other suspension innovations that have some potential but created some setup challenges that we can work on in the future.  The tires were also a new learning curve.  They are really not that much different that the Hoosiers, however, they have unique characteristics that make them different.  In addition, we learned that we were getting condensation in our air compressor, which caused us some problems with the tires.  Once we fixed our air compressor our tire issues seemed to be solved.  In summary, we learned a lot and considering our car races good we are excited about our potential.

I am really excited about my new seat insert.  After the races, I feel less fatigue in the car.  In addition, the snug feeling of the seat helped me concentrate more and focus better.  I really appreciate the guys at DJ Safety Seat.  I highly recommend it to everyone.

The Trone Outdoor team has completed the 2010 schedule.  We are excited about the new year and after getting back from Florida, even though our results were not great, we were one of only two cars that qualified for every race.  That is a major improvement on last year.  I am very excited about our potential this year.  If we continue to improve our TT’s, I am confident that our car will race extremely well.  Hopefully the weather will improve and we get Lincoln Speedway opener in the books.  Later Doug.
